so, after two days of food poisoning and two days of recovery I have inadvertantly broken my caffiene addiction - mostly by not being able to have any food or drink in my body at all, call it an accidental detox diet.
I'd like to try the no caffiene thing, since I know its better for me, but i am tired as hell all the time.
Hence my question...
what (non-coffee) foods/drinks wake you up?

i'm tired and i'm going to bed soon. but i needed to report that i did such a Classic Stupid Thing (tm) today. Like bugs bunny cartoon stupid thing.
I was on the ladder, putting stuff up on the new shelves. I put a picture frame on top of the ladder so I could put it on the top shelf. Then I completely forgot about it.
Guess what happens next.
Guess.
No really, guess.
Then I folded up the ladder and the picture frame fell on my head. I'm amazed I didnt knock myself out. I have a big bump.

but feeling much better.
I'm still not entirely sure how my car made it - and made it on just over half a tank of biodiesel - but i started driving yesterday and at dusk ended up on lake berryessa in napa valley. I pulled off the highway onto a ledge that i'm sure will cave in after the next big rain and wandered onto a trail with my sleeping bag and some water and found a woody spot just off of the trail and bedded down for the night just on the bank. I could hear party boats about a mile away across the water, which was sort of calming.
I woke up at about 6:30 after some strange dreams. Whenever i sleep outside I have weird dreams. They arent usually scary, and arent really my usual type of dreams, but always very vivid. They usually encorporate the place i'm at. I think there are things about places in nature that you might only understand while youre asleep. In my dream there was an old house where I was sleeping that went back in this particular family for ages and I was visiting. They gave me a baby to look after. Its not too strnage to think there was a house there at some point, it looked like half the soil had just eroded into the lake. I think there was a dam up further too, which means maybe there wasnt such a big lake there at all at one point.
Anyway, when i got up I got dressed and packed up and stopped at a store and started driving again, no plan. I ended up in winters and had breakfast. I asked a man at the breakfast place what I should do and he said that there were kayak rentals up past the casino and gave me vague directions.
So I went up there, only to see the last white water trip leaving (@11am). The whole river was whitewater, so there werent any other options. I started driving back and stopped at Lake Solano because somebody else said they had kayak rentals there too. They did, and on a much calmer body of water. So by 1pm I was kayaking on the lake. I took a detour down an cozy little inlet and got the rental back by four. I also got slightly sunburnt.
I stopped in the eastbay to get the final boxes out of my old house. Yes its been over two months, but they really dont care and they were still just sitting there in the hallway. Its still nasty, there were still rotting things on the counters and still (though i find it hard to believe that this hasnt fluctuated) no toilet paper in the bathroom. bleh.
but now i am home sweet home and appreciating it more than ever...
And some phone pictures here

i spent the day inside. in bed or in the shower (three showers so far). I have whatever
pixystarr had. only my version included a migraine that made me sleep with my stuffed monkey over my head all afternoon trying not to throw up. This is the first time today that i've not felt like looking at a computer screen would make my head explode.
i got new fish yesterday. two baby barbs and two baby sharks. the baby barbs are fine, but the big shark has been terrorizing the babies. he was looking kind of sad lately so i hough having babies around would liven him up a little. i guess it did, just a little too much. i think they'll be okay for now, its two against one. New fish movie soon. I'm thinking of making it a podcast.
i threw three snails out today too. I feel bad about it. I dont like killing things. I just dont want them to ruin my tank like they did the last time. I tried to throw them through the dark, off the porch, down into the pond in the back yard, but i'm sure i missed at least twice.
This is a nice place to live. My two roomates were home in the afternoon and we were all on the porch in the sun talking. For the 15 minutes that I felt okay doing that I repotted plants and had tea. I wish the rest of the day could have been like that.

I just filled the new tank. The fish are frantic. They think they are in the ocean all of a sudden. I wasn't planning on moving them but when I got to my old house tonight my frog and the last remaining orange fish were dead. There are only the original six. One shark and five tiger barbs. I expected the last orange one to go, he managed to kill the two females, by constantly trying to chase and hump, but once they are gone, the males usually die as well. The frog was a surprise, he seemed pretty hearty. I think between the snail infestation and the dying plants (since the snails had eaten them almost completly) it had contaminated the water too much to be okay. I thought it could all wait till the weekend when they would get a new tank anyway, but I guess I was fatally incorrect.
I freaked out and started worrying that the others would die if I left them in there over night too. So caught them and packed them up into a tupperware container and a nalgene bottle and carted them across the bay.
I did a basic setup of the new tank - a thirty five gallon hexoganol one with an undergravel filter and some pretty blue stones - and ran a hose from the sink into the tank. The hose didnt fit so I had to stand there and hold the hose over the faucet and try not to get the whole kitchen wet. Treated the water and let the fish acclimate. The foof - off they go running in circles around the tank trying to figure out these new boundaries and seeming very excited to be out of the tupperware. I wanted to take another movie of them all being frantic but my camera batteries are charging.
I'm hoping it wont get too cold for them in the next day or so when i get a new heater. The old one wasnt doing a very good job and would have done jack shit in this bigger tank.
